Your Support Is Making A Difference - Thank You!!!

TC Herald photo
Blue Mountain Wildlife has rescued about 307 barn owlets since the start of March.

Thanks for helping us raise an additional $10,000 this week for the baby owls!!! You may have seen the above photo in the Tri-City Herald two weeks ago in an article about the huge number of barn owls being admitted to our Tri-Cities center. The total number of young owls has risen to 385. By now, most, including the nine owls above, are outside in nest boxes. Many are fledging, venturing out of their boxes to begin to learn to fly. The owls above will fledge in about two weeks. Thanks to you, they are still being well fed. Food consumption has leveled off as most of the owls have reached their adult size (they are full grown when they learn to fly), but we are still feeding an astronomical 1500 mice per day. That number should start to decline as more owls fledge in the coming weeks.

For now, don’t forget to continue to spread the word (perhaps through Facebook!) and to give in any way you can, including contributions of materials for the babies, donations that receive something in return, and commitments for the future. To everyone who has been able to give thus far, we sincerely thank you. We’re getting there!

Volunteer Alisha to the Rescue

BMW volunteers are resourceful and persistent! A call came in from the Post Office in Pasco regarding a mallard hen trying to lead her 11 ducklings to water. Alisha volunteered to take the call. While she was capturing the hen, her babies crossed the street to an RV lot. It took her 45 minutes, but she caught all 11 ducklings!

She transported mom and her brood to the Columbia River at Chiawana Park. Way to go Alisha. We love a happy ending!
