Nov 26 - Dec 2

Thank You to all who made #GivingTuesday an overwhelming success!

NOGO

Your generous giving helped raise more than $14,000! The funds will help BMW care for hundreds of birds over the next few months, including this young Northern Goshawk who hit a window while chasing a Eurasian Collared Dove (the dove was killed when it hit the window). The hawk fractured his right coracoid. His right wing and shoulder have been immobilized with a bandage. It will be several weeks before we will know if he will be able to fly well enough to be released. In the mean time, your donations will help purchase the medications and food needed for him to make a complete recovery. We are very grateful for your support.

Ring-necked Duck 18-721

RNDU

We see lots of raptors this time of year, and this week was no different. In addition to the Goshawk, admissions included an American Kestrel a Western Screech Owl, two Great Horned Owls and three Barn Owls. We also admitted a new species for BMW, a Ring-necked Duck. Details on how the duck was injured were a bit fuzzy, but she also has a coracoid fracture. She is not as cooperative in leaving her bandage on as the goshawk, but she is being fairly quiet in her cage, and really loves giant mealworms.

BMW Adoptions Make Wonderful Christmas Gifts

Ed Birds.001

Do you need just the right gift for that special someone? We have two (really three!) new birds you can symbolically adopt: Northern Saw-whet Owl Oli, and sibling Turkey Vultures Darrel and Darryl. If you order now, they can arrive for the holidays. Visit the Adoption Page for details. Adoptions are another way you can support the work we do. Thank you so much!
