I’m Back From Vacation

I had a wonderful time visiting family and friends in Portland, and also visited Bob’s Red Mill. So many different grains and flours to choose from!

The One-eyed Owls Are Recovering Well

Burrowing Owl 22-243 is growing back the feathers the top of his head. We’re not sure how he lost them or how he injured his left eye. WE are evaluating him to see if he is a good candidate to join the education team.

Great Horned Owl 22-285 is ready to go out to a flight pen. He has recovered from the surgery to remove his right eye. We are not sure if he is going to be releasable. There is very little published data on the success of one-eyed owls.

Thank You Jordan!!!

We said goodby to intern Jordan who has been a tremendous help during the last two months. Below she is holding 22-285 right after his damaged right eye was removed. The swelling and redness are completely gone now!

Welcome Robyn!!!

We are pleased to have Veterinary Technician student Robyn here as she acquires clinical experience for the vet tech program she is enrolled in at Portland Community College. We put her to work right away. Below she is holding a Crow while Tricia administers oral fluids.
