Bald Eagle 18-006 is Flying Free

Don Sommer BAEA photo

Thank you to Don Sommer for sharing this beautiful photo of the release at McNary Wildlife Refuge in front of a large crowd of well-wishers.

BAEA Release Telemetry

Kathy Criddle captured this amazing photo of the eagle and the telemetry unit that will be used to monitor her for up to a year. We will see if she can overcome the toxic effects of lead.

 Member Challenge

Generous friends of Blue Mountain Wildlife have raised nearly $4,000 during the first week of Linda Wolcott’s challenge to raise $25,000. We are well on our way to meet her challenge and raise a total of $50,000 to help BMW Soar Higher!

The First Baby of the Season has Arrived

First Baby cropped

This fluffy ball weighs almost six ounces. It ended up on the ground in the snow this past week with an injured adult Western Screech Owl, who we suspect is the owlet’s father. A second call regarding a baby owl on the ground came in Sunday morning. Although this little guy looks very cute, he already knows how to use his beak and talons. Small rodents and beetles beware!
