Friends of Blue Mountain Wildlife $50,000 Challenge

Red-tailed Hawk

Blue Mountain Wildlife member Linda Wolcott shares our vision for a state-of-the-art wildlife hospital and environmental education center that will serve the wildlife and people of eastern Oregon and eastern Washington for generations to come.

Linda is challenging the friends of BMW to partner with her in fulfilling this vision. Linda will match every dollar donated to Blue Mountain Wildlife’s new hospital campaign between now and April 20, 2019, up to a total of $25,000. This means your $10 donation will be doubled to $20. A $100 donation becomes $200, up to a total of $50,000!

Our new home will be designed to help BMW better fulfill its mission to preserve local native wildlife through rehabilitation, education and research. It will include a wildlife hospital, indoor and outdoor classrooms, new displays for our ambassador birds, caretaker housing and intern housing. It will be a net zero energy use, net zero water use demonstration project showcasing how to preserve precious natural resources.

We invite you to partner with Linda and BMW today. Together we can Soar Higher, giving wildlife another chance at life, better educating our local youth, and demonstrating to our neighbors how to live in harmony with the natural world.

You can meet Linda’s challenge by donating:

  • directly on BMW’s website and comment that it is for Soar Higher
  • sending a check to Blue Mountain Wildlife at 71046 Appaloosa Lane, Pendleton, OR 97801, noting Soar Higher on the memo line
  • at Winter Birds at McNary Environmental Education Center on Saturday, February 23, 2019 and watch two Bald Eagles fly free at 10 am!
  • at Wild Birds Unlimited in Richland, WA on April 20, 2019 when we will celebrate and recognize everyone who helps us meet Linda’s challenge!

Linda Wolcott,“When I visited BMW several years ago, I was amazed to see what they could do on a shoestring. It’s time to throw them a rope and help them SOAR.”
